Handmade vanities · Carlow

Handmade solid oak bathroom vanities

Bathrooms are humid, and flat-pack furniture fails there. I build vanity units with solid hardwood fronts, frames and drawer boxes, in my workshop in Carlow, and fit them myself. No chipboard, no MDF, no vinyl wrap.

Two ways to buy, from €2,195.

Pricing

The price is a maker's days plus real timber — no more, no less.

Studio

from €2,195

A set design, made in three widths, in white oak. In-frame slab doors, two drawers, solid wood drawer boxes. Chosen from the range, so there's no design process to pay for. It's the vanity pictured above.

  • 800mm€2,195
  • 1000mm€2,475
  • 1200mm€2,750

Options on Studio

  • Walnut instead of white oak+€550
  • Hand-cut dovetailed drawer boxes+€450
  • Non-standard width, made to measure, up to 1400mm+€400

The Reserve price of €5,000 is for an 800mm wide unit at standard depth with a single basin; anything beyond that is priced from the list above.

Not included: installation is quoted separately, on both tiers. Deeper than standard — 650mm, say — is quoted per job rather than absorbed into the prices above. The top, basin and tap aren't included either: you choose them, and I design the unit around your models.

Why solid

Solid Timber, Not Chipboard

Most vanities on the market are chipboard or MDF wrapped in vinyl, which is fine, but let's face it, it's trying to look like hardwood and no matter how good it's done, it never really does. A Daly vanity is built for the room it lives in.

Solid oak fronts

Fronts and frames are solid hardwood — white oak as standard, walnut if you prefer it darker.

Solid wood drawer boxes

The drawer boxes are solid wood, hand-cut dovetails on Reserve and an option on Studio. No chipboard, no MDF, no vinyl wrap.

Set sizes or made to measure

Studio comes in three set widths. Reserve is made to measure — any width and height, designed for the room and your basin.

Japandi design

Clean lines, visible grain, push-to-open drawers with no handles, and durable moisture-appropriate finishes applied by hand.

Materials

Choose Your Timber

White oak is the standard for both ranges. Walnut is a darker, richer choice: +€550 on Studio, or on Reserve in walnut, white oak or a combination of the two.

Oak

Warm and golden, with a strong, open grain. Hard-wearing and timeless.

What's included and what isn't: I build and fit the vanity unit. The top, basin and tap are yours to choose: the stone top comes from your fabricator, and your plumber fits the basin and tap and handles the water. Plumbing connection and disconnection, tiling and electrics aren't included. Install covers Carlow, the south-east and the Dublin-commutable region. Supply-only is available nationwide: the vanity is shipped or collected, and a local carpenter fits it.

FAQ

Vanity questions

Can't see your question? Ask me directly and I'll get back to you.

How much does a handmade vanity cost?

Studio is €2,195 for 800mm, €2,475 for 1000mm and €2,750 for 1200mm. Reserve starts from €5,000 for an 800mm unit. Installation is quoted separately, and the top, basin and tap aren't included.

What's the difference between Studio and Reserve?

Studio is a set design in white oak, made in three widths, with in-frame slab fronts, two drawers and solid wood drawer boxes. Reserve is made to measure and designed for the room, in walnut, white oak or a combination, with grain-matched fronts where possible, hand-cut dovetailed drawer boxes and a 3D design drawn up with you.

Can I have a different width or depth?

Yes. On Studio, a non-standard width up to 1400mm is +€400. Reserve is made to any width and height, and 1400mm and over, or a double basin, starts from €6,800. A deeper than standard unit is quoted per job.

Can I have it in walnut?

Yes. Walnut is +€550 on Studio, and Reserve can be walnut, white oak or a combination of the two.

Are the top, basin and tap included?

No. You choose and buy them, and send me the model details, so the unit is designed around them. The stone top comes from your fabricator, and your plumber fits the basin and tap.

Why solid wood in a bathroom?

Bathrooms are humid, and chipboard and MDF swell when moisture gets in. My vanities have solid hardwood fronts, frames and drawer boxes, with moisture-appropriate finishes applied by hand.

Do the drawers have handles?

No. The drawers are full width and push-to-open, so there's nothing to catch on.

How long does it take?

Allow one to two weeks in the workshop, depending on the spec. Fitting is typically a single day.

Will you come out to measure?

Yes. Send a few photos and rough sizes first, and I'll come out to measure properly. The first visit is free.

Do you do the plumbing and tiling?

No. I build and fit the vanity unit. Your plumber handles the water, and tiling and electrics aren't included.

Which areas do you cover?

I install across Carlow, the south-east and the Dublin-commutable region. Supply-only is available nationwide: the vanity is shipped or collected, and a local carpenter fits it.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. My workmanship is guaranteed for 2 years from fitting, as set out in the agreement you sign.

How do I look after a solid wood vanity?

Wipe splashes dry, clean it with a damp cloth and mild soap, and avoid harsh cleaners. The hand-applied finish can be refreshed over the years rather than replaced.
